چکیده

This article discusses the fundamental architectures for optical-wireless-systems biomedical-ap-plications. After summarizing main applications and reporting their requirements, we describe characteristics of transdermal in-body optical channels (OCs) as well challenges that they impose in design communication systems. Specifically, provide three possible communications, namely electro-optical monitoring, opto-electrical, all-optical (AO), neural stimulation, which are currently under investigation, whereas a nano-scale AO concept. For each architecture, discuss operation principles, technology enablers, research directions development. Finally, highlight necessity designing an infor-mation-theoretic framework analysis physical medium access control layers, takes into account channels' characteristics.

ctive medical implants (AMIs) are “electronic medicators and monitors” that inject controlled currents to the heart, spine, brain, or other organs or control electromechanical medical devices such as medication dispensers. Imagine an AMI with molecular in vivo sensors for biological assay that uses these data to monitor a patient’s condition and its own performance as well as diagnose, indicate...

An Adaptive Congestion Alleviating Protocol for Healthcare Applications in Wireless Body Sensor Networks: Learning Automata Approach

Wireless Body Sensor Networks (WBSNs) involve a convergence of biosensors, wireless communication and networks technologies. WBSN enables real-time healthcare services to users. Wireless sensors can be used to monitor patients’ physical conditions and transfer real time vital signs to the emergency center or individual doctors. Wireless networks are subject to more packet loss and congestion. T...

Optical Wireless Communications

People’s ideas about communications have changed completely, nowadays when this subject is mentioned almost everyone thinks of wireless communications. The demand for broadband wireless communications offering greater and greater data rates is endless, and the radio-technology community is trying harder and harder to satisfy this demand. Recently, there was the worldwide launch of 4th generatio...

Optical Wireless Communications

The use of mobile devices, e.g., laptops, cell phones and PDAs, has become ubiquitous. Users expect to access very high-speed networks from anywhere and be able to communicate with other users, and share common resources such as printers, at high data rates. As a consequence, wireless local area networks (WLANs) have become the subject of intense research. WLANs are subject to more noise and in...
